![]() ![]() Wow some may say this was even all coordinated, but what the fuck do I know, I’m just the delusional one. Then work your way up how Tencent bought Riot then ~gasp~ Garena bought HoN, then Tencent wanted Riot to create a mobile game, but was met with resistance, then Garena made Arena of Valor using ~gasp~ HoN IP to lure in all the SEA players, then Tencent finally made a League of Legends mobile. You need to do some proper research and look at the acquisitions Garena had over the years, going back as far as Tencents acquisition of Garena as a publishing company in SEA. At some point you acquired it illegally or paid to play at a LAN cafe and those other tightarse players were trash compared to properly organised legit in-house leagues.ġ00% of the heroes in beta for HoN were direct ports of DotA. Yes DotA was POPULAR, but saying it was Free is downright bullshit. Or somehow acquired a paid legitimate key to log into - that’s my point man, stop bringing in new info as rebuttals. They would have bought the damn game and played in ANDL/TDL leagues. I don’t know why you’re bringing up international tournaments, I’m fucking telling you those players WERE NOT at lan cafes. You’re hell bent on a weird fantasy you’ve thought up over the years as to why HoN “ultimately failed.” (Even after the fact it’s STILL going, 13 fucking years later lmao) I don’t know what you’re aiming to get from this conversation. Icefrog copying Lol's f2p? Lol you need to crosscheck your source again. And don't start comparing Dota2's f2p with Lol, because unlike all those semi f2p MOBA (Lol included), Dota2 is the only one that lets you to play all heroes without having to buy them in any way. HoN failed in acknowledging that it was riding on Dota waves and once Dota2 comes, it stand no chance. Do you really think HoN can compete with the p2p model? History speak for itself. But then Icefrog team up with Valve and create Dota2 that is free 2 play. Most people who came to HoN known the game as Dota duplicates (which was true at start, since more than half the heroes were copied from Dota). I tell you now all momentum HoN had was mostly for Dota. Either you completely oblivious or choose to ignore that games thrives not only for it's competitive scene but for way bigger portion of the community that don't play competitive. ![]() And there is a reason I played Dota1 way before HoN which I wouldn't if I have problems with 'quality' of the games. Yes Eu had competitive scene, but most other regions had regionals. You need to take the fact that not until 2009 Dota held an international tournament and until then all that exist were regional servers. But you'd be hard pressed to imagine that they wouldn't do differently if given a 2nd chance.ĭelusional again. Tbh going hard to blame them is not fair since the market of MOBA was only beginning to be taken seriously at that time and it's understandable they didn't want to do make or break by making huge investment like Riot. Alas it was never meant to be with S2games. I still remember the time I played HoN and I genuinely thought it would be the 2nd Dota. You can't deny at some point HoN has the momentum, they just didn't make the most of it. S2Games chased away the gremlin and he built a kingdom that outlast theirs, that's a fact. ![]() Lol call him gremlin or whatever, the fact is Dota2 thrives while HoN sink. You are as deluded as S2games if you can't at least acknowledged this as a fact, cause I can tell you that I haven't spent any penny on playing the game that is Dota1, besides that which I pay to the net cafe. Dude I tell you local bnet server exists and they were free to access from since at least 2007 or so (that was at least the case for me in SEA anyway). ![]()
