![]() The largest difference I would say is that Helldivers is an action game with survival/strategy elements whereas Solstice is more a survival/strategy game with action elements. Also - with static maps but randomized objectives and spawns it is advantageous to know the maps. The decisions I make in Solstice feel more impactful as leaving behind an item I find I needed later can make the game just that bit more difficult. Classes have strengths and weaknesses to beexploited to your advantage or compensated for by other classes respectively. The game rewards individual player knowledge, group and individual awareness, coordination, and quick reactions. The early game is spent securing objectives that give long-lasting, often game-long, benefits and amassing the items that will help lessen the burden of survival in later Waves. Solstice is more akin to a methodical game of strategy that bounds into the fast-paced action come Wave 9/10 and beyond (Sometimes this is Wave 12 instead depending on experience of players and how everyone reacts to the threats presented). I know the Illuminate give me more trouble than bugs but just giving a gist of the gameplay from my perspective.) (Experience of a Difficulty 12 Bug home world. ![]() As long as the team doesn't shoot each other and doesn't intentionally aggro too much you're pretty good to go without any verbal or written communication. As long as you have your anti-tank, attrition, and recovery/defense covered you're good to go. ![]() Helldivers gives you a fast-paced action-packed rush on the higher difficulty stages that keeps you on your toes from the start and requires only a decent bit of forethought and planning to make sure you cover your bases because ultimately there are no restrictions/defining characteristics based on what "Class" of Helldiver you want to play as there are no delineated classes. I've played both, I enjoy both but for very different reasons. ![]()
